Shameless Spamming

Hi all and welcome to C:Cubed.  I hope you're going to have a creative and promiscuous day.

Now to the spamming bit: I'm not in Gateshead.  I've had to cut myself in two this week: half to play my part in this event, half to install Not Quite Dead, an interactive digital installation by my artistic other half, Shanaz Gulzar and me, in Saltwell Park, Gateshead.

Interacting with finance & numbers

is anyone doing interesting interface/interaction design around numbers, maths or finance?

these couple of days have got me thinking that I really need to focus
on the interaction design of www.mycake.org. we've done some work on
making the visualisation of financial outputs (profit and loss etc)
easier to interact with ... but there's a long way to go.

i think the landing page the otherside of the login is probably my start point.

cake and a chat anyone?

Identity Fraud

Facebook and Identity Fraud

Antivirus software company Sophos recently announced that many Social Networks are opening its users up to the possibility of Identity Fraud. "It's alarming to hear about some of the information people were prepared to share with a complete stranger online, when they are sent a friend request on Facebook out of the blue. Facebook's privacy features actually go far beyond those of many competing social networking sites, but users are simply not choosing their privacy options carefully and have not learnt how to behave safely online," said Carole Theriault, host of the Sophos podcast.

Adobe 3D camera, the future of digital imaging?

Adobe recently demonstrated a new type of lens which, like an insect's compound eye, transmits several smaller images to the camera. The result is a photograph with multiple sub-views, each taken from a slightly different vantage point at exactly the same time. From this information, the computer can reconstruct a model of the scene in three dimensions. This looks set to revolutionise photography, and potentially film-making. http://www.news.com/8301-13580_3-9793272-39.html

Blaise Aguera y Arcas - PhotoSynth Demo

This demonstration is incredible, especially the part where Blaise shows the interactive Notre Dame model, constructed from Flickr photos. This really shows the power of collective experiences being harnessed by innovative interfaces.
